Constitution, Bylaws, Policies, Procedures, Rules, and Tikanga  

At Tokoroa Golf Club, we have developed a constitution, bylaws, policies, procedures, rules and tikanga pursuant to the fundamental lawful duties and obligations of an incorporated society.  

It is a requirement of membership of the Tokoroa Golf Club Incorporated that those who are, or wish to be, members of the Tokoroa Golf Club Incorporated avail themself of all constitutions, bylaws, policies, procedures, rules and tikanga pursuant to the fundamental lawful duties and obligations of an incorporated society.  

TIKANGA

At Tokoroa Golf Club, we have developed a constitution, bylaws, policies, procedures, rules and tikanga pursuant to the fundamental lawful duties and obligations of an incorporated society.

 

See the existing tikanga of the Tokoroa Golf Club Incorporated below pursuant to the s. 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and its subsequent amendments.  The Tikanga were last edited on or about Monday the 28th of August 2023 and is the current Tikanga of the Tokoroa Golf Club Incorporated and its website.

It is a requirement of membership to the Tokoroa Golf Club Incorporated that members avail themselves of this Tikanga.  

A Club by Golfers for Golfers.

  1. The Tokoroa Golf Club Incorporated (the Club) is a Club by golfers, for golfers.  Implicit in that is an obligation: 

    1. To include natural persons who participate in the game or sport of golf; and 

    2. To ensure conformance of the Club with the Tikanga of Ngāti Raukawa the Indigenous peoples from whom the Club lease their land; and 

    3. To include persons who wish to promote and encourage others to participate in the game or sport of golf.  

Conduct befitting the promotion of the game of Golf. 

  1. The Club requires Members to purport themselves in a manner which: 

    1. Ensures all persons feel they can attend the greens, grounds, and facilities of the Club in a safe and friendly manner; and 

    2. Ensures all persons feel the conduct of others was respectful to them when they attend the greens, grounds, and facilities of the Club in a safe and friendly manner; and 

    3. Leaves the greens, grounds, and facilities of the Club in a condition that the next person who uses the greens, grounds, and facilities of the Club will feel supports the promotion of the game or sport of golf; and 

    4. Is consistent with all laws and regulations of Aotearoa New Zealand; and  

    5. Conform to the rules of play as provided by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, except as varied by the local rules of the Club. 

    6. Are consistent with known Golf Etiquette. 

Golf Etiquette.  

  1. Golf Etiquette has a long a varied history of struggle and decisions.  The Club views the following as the correct Etiquette.  

    1. SAFETY: Before swinging the Club, make sure that no one is standing close by; and 

    2. SLOW PLAY: A player or group that is playing slowly will let the faster players behind them play through; and 

    3. BUNKERS: Before leaving a bunker carefully rake over and smooth the footprints and holes that you make; and 

    4. DIVOTS: All divots should be replaced and pressed down after finishing the shot; and 

    5. PITCHMARKS: Pitchmarks or holes that your ball makes on the green should be carefully repaired; and 

    6. TRUNDLERS: Do not take trundlers on to the tee or across the greens; and 

    7. CONSIDERATION: Do not talk while other players are taking their shot; and 

    8. SEARCHING FOR LOST BALLS: Help other players to find their ball to speed up play. Watch all shots in your group so that the balls can be identified easily; and 

    9. DRESS: Wear suitable clothing when playing golf; and 

    10. LANGUAGE: Bad language such as the use of swearing on a golf course is not tolerated.   ​​
